For this Paper Bag Card tutorial I’ll be taking you step by step on how to construct a Paper Bag Card using the Graphic 45 Imagine Collection Ephemera & Journaling Cards and Sticker Sheet.  This project takes under an hour and it costs under $10.

We begin our paper bag card with a simple black paper gift sack. We fold it in half and use our bone folder to make a fine crease.

Tip: Don’t throw away your Graphic 45 packaging.  I find their packaging to be quite beautiful and you can use it in an array of projects!

That’s right! We’re using the Ephemera and Journaling Cards packaging to make the background for our front panel! You’ll just do some “eye measuring” and trim it to fit the front panel of your paper bag card.

We’re also going to do this on the inside panel of our card. We trim this piece down to size, adhere it to the bag, underneath the flap, and then we create a pocket by gluing the outer edges of the bag flap.  This pocket will hold a gift card.

Tip:  Always use glue when creating pockets.  If you use double-sided tape, you’ll run the chance of items getting stuck on the tape.

Now we’ll use one of the 4×6 journaling cards to add to our pocket panel.  In this instance, I’m using the Post Card (with roses) card.  Again, we “eye measure” and with a pen mark the spots where we want to trim.

Due to the direction of the other card I’m using, it falls shorter than what I’d like it to be.  However, there’s a quick fix to this.  With the remaining Graphic 45 packaging, I cut a strip about a half an inch wide, and glue it on the edge of the card.  I then round off the bottom corners with an edge-punch, ink around the edges, and glue it to the other panel of our card.

With our inside panels complete, we go on to embellish the front of our paper bag card.

I use a 3×4 ephemera card on the top, a fussy-cut stamp to cover part of the bottom, and then fussy-cut roses to add dimension to the front of our card.

I also use a couple of stickers from the Imagine collection for a pop of color to the inside of our card.

And with a hot-glue-gun on hand, I add a jute string bow.  To top off the bow, I hot-glue a fussy-cut butterfly from the ephemera pack.
